Scott Bandy, Son of Susan & Deon Unthank, Passes Away

Southaven, Mississippi (November 11, 2015) Scott Bandy passed away early yesterday morning in his hometown of Southaven, Mississippi. Scott was the son and step-son, respectively, of AbsolutelyGospel.com’s Susan and Deon Unthank and the brother of Chris Unthank and Amy Marie Zika.

Scott had an active role in the Gospel music community for many years. He was the sound engineer for several Gospel mainstays throughout the years, most notably The Imperials and Sunday Edition. In addition, he served on staff of AbsolutelyGospel.com for years as both a writer and sales manager.

Scott’s past with addiction and depression gave him a unique platform for ministry as well. Many were reached for Christ through his ministry as a writer, actor, and volunteer with Teen Challenge Ministries in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

“Words can not express how we as a family feel about the loss of our brother and son,” mentioned Chris Unthank, Editor-in-Chief of AbsolutelyGospel.com. “Scott’s past was something he never shied away from. He was upfront about the many demons he battled on a daily basis. We find peace in knowing that not only is he finally free from the bondages of this life, but that he finally can see his Redeemer face to face.”

“We are thankful for the many prayers of friends, family, and industry professionals during this time of grief for our family,” mentioned Deon Unthank, Scott’s step-father. “Our heart is gladdened today knowing that he was greeted at the gates of Heaven by my wife and his mother, Susan. We know she is so very happy to have him home once and for all.”

Scott is survived by his wife, Heather Bandy, and her two children, Jade and Jacob Chappell as well as his father, Randall (Patricia) Bandy, step-father Deon (Pamela) Unthank, brother Aaron (Teri) Unthank, sister Leslie (Warren) Cook, sister Amy (Mike) Zika, brother Chris (Noel) Unthank, grandfather Kenneth Favre, aunts, uncles, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by AbsolutelyGospel.com founder and his mother Susan Unthank.

The memorial service for Scott Bandy will be this Saturday, November 14th at 4:00 pm at Victory Church in Southaven, MS. Visitation will begin at 3:00 pm with the family.

Prayers are appreciated for the Bandy/Unthank family during this time. Cards of Condolence can be sent to Absolutely Gospel Music, 660 Forest Lane, Cleveland
